More About Benda
Alexis Benda (Benda, for short) brings extensive playing and coaching experience to the volleyball community. Originally from Las Cruces, New Mexico, Alexis played collegiate volleyball at Metropolitan State University of Denver from 2017–2022 as an outside hitter. During her career, she was a four-year team captain and earned First Team All-RMAC honors in 2021. She helped lead the Roadrunners to a program-best No. 3 national ranking in NCAA Division II and finished her career ranked among the program's top players in matches played and block assists.
Following her playing career, Alexis returned to MSU Denver as a volunteer assistant coach before serving as a graduate assistant at Colorado Christian University, where she gained experience in player development, scouting, recruiting coordination, and collegiate practices. She also coached club volleyball and provided private instruction at VC Denver, working to develop athletes' skills, confidence, and understanding of the game. During the 2026/2027 season, Benda will serve as VC Denver's mental performance coach, a role she has also held in the past.
Benda returned to MSU Denver in 2026 as an assistant coach, bringing her experience as a collegiate athlete, team leader, and club and collegiate coach to the Roadrunners program. Her passion for athlete development and commitment to helping players reach their potential continue to shape her coaching approach.
